Ag Panel Presses Zoning Fixes for Farms
Agricultural Commission · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Pepperell Agricultural Commission finalizes Open Farm Day, presses zoning fixes for farms. Co-Chairs Sherrill Rosoff and Lucille McKain confirmed Sunday's self-guided farm tour, grown to roughly 10 participating farms, plus a Grange Hall appreciation dinner featuring a roughly $150 catered lasagna meal from Philos. The commission voted unanimously to approve its September 3 minutes after a correction ("Canva," not "Canvas") and unanimously to adjourn; it tabled its August 25 minutes to the next meeting.
Member Eric Piper is revising the commission's memo urging the Planning Board to classify riding stables, riding academies and therapeutic riding as by-right agricultural uses ahead of the November 7 Fall Town Meeting. Relaying farmer Dave Sears, Rosoff said "everybody's connotation of a piggery is vastly different than a pasture-based swine operation," questioning zoning language restricting pig-raising on parcels under two acres.
