Pepperell 250th Committee Accepts $10,000 Bank Donation, Votes to Expand Fireworks Show

PEPPERELL — May 27, 2026 — Pepperell's 250th Anniversary Committee voted unanimously to accept a $10,000 donation from Stoneham Bank and raise the July 2 fireworks budget to $40,000. The bank's contribution — which also includes a Boston Road billboard, co-branded lawn signs to be distributed in mid-June, and twice-weekly social media co-promotion — came with an agreement to brand the fireworks display as "brought to you by Stoneham Bank in conjunction with the Town of Pepperell" and to add a six-inch by twelve-inch sponsor logo to existing signs on the town common. The committee's treasurer reported a net account balance of $54,839.71 as of May 27, with total projected revenue of $67,255.07; with the $35,000 town meeting appropriation still pending deposit, members estimated over $100,000 in combined incoming funds. The committee also voted unanimously to cut non-food vendor table fees from $250 to $125 for a single table and $250 for a double, contingent on each vendor providing a guaranteed committee-approved activity, and authorized up to $200 for cannon powder for the Wellington Colonial Minute Men, who are to fire on the hour throughout the event.
