Pepperell Council on Aging Adopts Revised Policy Manual

Council on Aging · Meeting of January 13, 2026

Pepperell Council on Aging adopts revised policy manual, tables meal-price hike. The board voted unanimously to formally adopt a rewritten policies and procedures manual after volunteer editor Nancy Levin walked members through dozens of edits, including raising the minimum shorts inseam to six inches. The center's financial report showed 51.92 percent of its budget spent at the midpoint of the fiscal year, with lunches costing $7.65 to prepare but sold for $4.

Board member Peter moved to raise the price to $5 on July 1 but withdrew the motion for lack of a second, saying "where can you go and get a meal like this for $4?" The board instead voted to post the true meal cost in the dining room and continue the fee debate as discussion, not a vote, next meeting. The Friends of the Council on Aging reelected its president and named Sharon Petro treasurer, succeeding Susan Broussard after 14 years.
