Pepperell Planning Board elects new chair, tables South Road parcel plan a second time

PEPPERELL — June 3, 2019 — Pepperell Planning Board reorganized its leadership, recommended a new member, and tabled a disputed South Road parcel plan for the second consecutive meeting at its June 3 session. The three-member board elected Rick as chair on a two-to-one vote — with Rick himself casting the lone nay — and unanimously chose Joe as clerk. Members voted unanimously to recommend that the Select Board jointly appoint Casey, the current planning assistant, as a full board member to fill out an existing term, noting no other applicants had come forward. An approval-not-required plan for Map 32 Parcel 36 on South Road, which proposes dividing an 8.84-acre landlocked parcel into three sub-parcels for combination with abutting family properties, was tabled again after members concluded it likely does not require Planning Board action under state subdivision law. The board scheduled a joint session with the Select Board for June 10 to formalize Casey's appointment, followed immediately by a Planning Board session to review town counsel's comments on a draft solar energy bylaw and set a public hearing date targeting late July.
