PEPPERELL — The Pepperell Board of Public Works voted 5-0 to recommend three Special Town Meeting warrant articles covering highway equipment, cemetery mowers and a cemetery bylaw update. DPW Director Paul Brickman told the board the town secured a $2.7 million MassWorks grant to rebuild the water main and sidewalks along Lowell Road and Leighton Street, tied to a planned 180-unit Leighton Landing development. The board separately approved updated cemetery rules and regulations, including a leash requirement for dogs and new restrictions on lot-ownership transfers, and reviewed a state Department of Labor Standards inspection triggered after an employee's hand was injured on a catch basin cover, which recommended forklift-safety training.
"We have breaks in these mains all the time now," Brickman said of the Lowell Road work, "so we're going to put a 12-inch that'll serve everybody."
