Pepperell Board Appoints Interim Council on Aging Director, Sets Permanent Search in Motion

PEPPERELL — November 10, 2010 — Pepperell selectmen appoint interim Council on Aging director after abrupt vacancy at Senior Center. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously at a special meeting November 10 to appoint Marcia Zanaboni as interim director of the Council on Aging Senior Center, effective November 12 through January 31, 2011, at $26.67 per hour with no benefits. Council on Aging Chairman Merle Green, who brought the recommendation to the board, said the council had voted unanimously to back Zanaboni, a former director who spent five and a half years in the role and oversaw construction of the current Senior Center building. Selectmen declined to detail the circumstances behind the vacancy, saying only that "something went wrong with the process" over the preceding week and a half. The board also voted unanimously to form a five-member screening committee — Kathy Forrest, Barry Fuller, Sandy Dubey, and Ginny Spinney of the Council on Aging, plus Town Administrator John Moke — to conduct the permanent director search, with Green targeting a hire by January's end.
