PEPPERELL — April 13, 2026 — Pepperell Board of Health approves new recycling center hire and moves hauler regulations toward a public hearing. Town Accountant Elizabeth Barth reported the Solid Waste and Recycling Enterprise Fund carries a projected positive balance of roughly $26,000 entering May after a $56,394.90 hauler invoice, warning the board "it's getting tight" with two months left in the fiscal year. Board Agent Rick reviewed a draft hauler regulation package modeled on rules adopted by Boylston and Ashburnham that would require mandatory recycling and bundled trash-and-recycling service from all eight of the town's licensed haulers; the board tentatively set a public hearing for May 11. The board voted unanimously to hire Jeffrey Moon, 20, as Recycling Center Attendant 1, pending a Select Board background check, with a projected start date of May 2. A warrant totaling $62,524.20 was approved, and the board voted to raffle one of 20 newly delivered Orbis compost bins at the town's Earth Day event.
