Pepperell plant panel approves minutes, sets garlic mustard dates

Pepperell's Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee locked in April dates for its garlic mustard challenge and flagged a deer-fencing gap at the community garden. The committee approved its March 5 minutes unanimously, then reported it sent letters backing a state consolidated invasive-plant office bill to state Rep. Scarsdale and state Sen.
John Cronin, with the bill now before the House and Senate Ways and Means committees. The garlic mustard challenge runs April 15 through May 15, with about 150 seed packets planned versus 80 last year. Members warned that "what you're going to have is this nice little buffet" for deer at the community garden's grant-funded pollinator bed, which lacks full fencing this year.
An invasive-plant toolkit was delivered to the Pepperell library this week, pending staff cataloging before public rollout.
