Cohasset Conservation Commission Continues Cell Tower Hearing, Orders Yacht Club Dock Filing

PEPPERELL — April 2, 2026 — Cohasset Conservation Commission continues wireless tower hearing, ratifies yacht club dock enforcement order. The commission voted 5-0-0 Thursday on all five items before it, including an enforcement order requiring the Cohasset Yacht Club at 99 Howard Gleason Road to cease unauthorized dock expansion and submit a Notice of Intent by May 5 or face review at the May 21 meeting. The most contested item, a Notice of Intent and Stormwater Permit for a Wireless Edge Towers and Town of Cohasset cell tower in Wheelwright Park, was continued to April 16 after commissioners including Will Ashton challenged the applicants' assertion that trenching beneath an intermittent stream culvert would produce no wetland impacts, saying "I don't understand how there could be no impact whatsoever." Engineer James Fitzgerald of Chapel Engineering countered that the project would not require any modification to the existing 12-inch reinforced concrete culvert and called the prospect of a peer review "a tactic to delay," drawing a sharp reply from Ashton that "a cell tower is different and its impacts and effects extend much further beyond just the pad." The commission also cleared two routine fence and tree-removal applications and issued a Certificate of Compliance for a residential pool project at 33 Hemlock Way, with Conservation Agent Charlotte Pectel to coordinate a non-deliberative site walk at the Forest Avenue entrance to Wheelwright Park before the next hearing.
