Pepperell Selectmen Appoint Three Auxiliary Officers, Adopt Five-Year Financial Plan

PEPPERELL — November 24, 2015 — Pepperell selectmen appoint three auxiliary officers and adopt a five-year financial plan at pre-Thanksgiving session. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously Monday to appoint Neal Lanko, Corey Hopkins, and Jesse Reid as auxiliary police officers, partially restoring a force that had slipped to 13 after two recent departures, below the roughly 15 needed for parades and major weather events; Emergency Management Director Dave Kersey presented the candidates following a screening by Police Chief Scott and Sergeant Nick Parker. The board also formally adopted Town Administrator Mark's five-year revenue and expenditure plan covering FY17 through FY21, which currently shows a balanced surplus of $29,190 before department requests are submitted December 2, as required by Article 6-3 of the town charter. A $5,000 reserve fund transfer to the legal bills account was approved to cover costs from ongoing collective bargaining negotiations. The board accepted resignations from Library Trustee Gretchen Needham, Finance Committee member Elliot Cohen, and Cultural Council member Jennifer Styles, and appointed Marianne Coker and Taya Dixon-Mullain to the Finance Committee; it also reappointed Alan Leo to the Pepperell Public Access Cable Corp Board of Directors through November 2018.
