Pepperell Selectmen Approve 29 New Stop Signs, Confirm Two Police Promotions

PEPPERELL — November 14, 2016 — Pepperell selectmen approved 29 new stop signs and formalized 107 existing ones at Monday's meeting. The board voted unanimously to accept the stop-control inventory presented by town engineer Ken Kalinowski and Signs and Safety Committee member David Glass, correcting two labeling errors before installation proceeds; individual signs cost roughly $140 installed and are funded from the Signs and Safety Committee's annual operating budget. The board also confirmed Thomas Eskalenko's promotion to sergeant and Jay Friend's assignment as detective, both effective November 20. Steve Wozniowski of TADS — Anxiety and Depression Solutions — presented a $22,500 check representing the first year of funding for a ten-town jail diversion social worker program, combining a $30,000 Department of Mental Health grant with a $25,000 private donation and $10,000 in TADS reserves. A wine-and-malt license application for Pizza Pizzazz Inc. at 75 Main Street was continued to December 5 after the board found that only manager Juliana Goncalves Machado holds TIPS certification and no written alcohol-service policies are in place.
