Pepperell Selectmen Approve Administrative Contract, Restructure Emergency Management Leadership

PEPPERELL — October 20, 2014 — Pepperell Board of Selectmen approves employment contract for administrative assistant and restructures emergency management. The board voted unanimously Monday to approve a contract employment agreement with administrative assistant Peggy, effective October 27, 2014, through June 30, 2017, formalizing her status during the ongoing town administrator transition. In the same meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Emergency Management Director George Ux, who said he had held the position since 1966, and appointed David Kersey as the new director, with Ux stepping into an assistant director role; both terms run through June 30, 2015. The board also received a detailed Economic Development Advisory Committee report identifying more than a dozen parcels of four or more acres as potential commercial development sites and citing an estimated $80 million in annual retail leakage, while members discussed the final two candidates for town administrator — former Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette and Wenham Town Administrator Mark Andrews — without reaching a vote, pending additional background review by outgoing Town Administrator John Moke.
