Pepperell Selectmen Approve Liquor License Transfer for Depot Grill and Bar

PEPPERELL — December 23, 2013 — Pepperell selectmen unanimously approved a liquor license transfer for the Depot Grill and Bar at 112 Main Street on December 23. The board voted to transfer the all-alcohol restaurant license from outgoing owner Brian Redler to Depot Grill and Bar Incorporated, with Keith B. Coakley named as manager. Coakley, a construction contractor and 30-year Westford nonprofit operator, and his fiancee Gail Johnson, who managed the restaurant under prior ownership, presented plans to reposition the establishment as a sit-down neighborhood pub featuring homemade pizza and barbecue, with no change to the existing 11 p.m. closing hour. The board also corrected the licensed seating capacity from 36 to 60 seats, in line with the building's occupancy permit, after the ABCC directed staff to incorporate the change into the transfer rather than amend the outgoing license. Final approval rests with the ABCC, with a decision expected in four to six weeks, after which the new owners must also complete a Nashoba Board of Health food service license review.
