Pepperell Selectmen Fill Election Vacancies, Confirm Library and Planning Board Picks

PEPPERELL — June 24, 2013 — Pepperell Selectmen approved a raft of appointments and voted to close Town Hall on July 5th at the board's June 24 meeting. Town Administrator John Moak reported that a Town Hall vault roof and handicap ramp repair originally estimated at roughly $40,000 has grown substantially more complex once code-compliance requirements are factored in, with an architect from Haylene Carl Associates recommending a targeted roof seal and relocation of aging rooftop AC units as a near-term measure while longer-range planning — potentially including a new front-entrance ADA ramp — is developed. The board acknowledged Moak's use of a Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44 Section 33B inter-departmental transfer to cover two year-end shortfalls: approximately $4,200 in audit costs and an estimated $3,900 in streetlight overruns.
