Climate Change Committee · Meeting of October 15, 2026

Pepperell's Climate Change Committee said it was never notified about a Planning Board zoning proposal covering data centers, despite being publicly named at a hearing as a consulted stakeholder. Member Jennifer Harris told the committee she went to the podium to say, "I am standing here as a member of the committee that you specifically named saying that I never saw this until somebody posted it on Facebook." The Planning Board voted down three of four zoning warrant articles tied to large commercial uses; only a zoning-definitions article, Article 1, remains headed to November Town Meeting, with a resident seeking reconsideration. Select Board member Tony Beattie, attending as a guest, said the board needs to "educate the public" before any vote stands.

The committee also reported its electric-vehicle charging grant application deadline passed October 1, with funders citing limited funds and a decision expected by year's end.
