Recreation Commission · Meeting of October 20, 2026

Pepperell's Recreation Commission pushed five youth sports leagues to hash out a short-term field-sharing deal Tuesday, warning it would impose terms if the groups could not compromise. Chair David Ganong and members Michael Dean and Alan Leao heard league representatives describe chronic field shortages, drainage problems at the Glow and Nissitissit fields, and disputes over lining town-owned grass. One softball representative said she had "answered to 10 other people" awaiting a long-term fix, and warned the town could end up paying roughly $3,000 to rent an outside field if no local space opens up.

The commission also reviewed three Community Preservation Committee funding applications due for initial eligibility review by Friday, October 23: a softball field development project, a roughly $5,000 Kennedy Field environmental study, and restoration of the Prescott statue. No formal votes were taken; the meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
