Recreation Commission votes to redo three improperly noticed decisions

Recreation Commission · Meeting of January 15, 2026

Pepperell Recreation Commission agrees to redo three votes after open meeting law complaint. Chair David Ganong read into the record a complaint from resident Craig Hanson alleging the board's January 2 agenda, which listed only "CPC meeting discussion," failed to give adequate notice before members voted to withdraw a National Fitness Campaign court application, back a Community Preservation Committee affordable housing funding request and rescind support for a volleyball court project. The commission voted unanimously to hold a February 2 meeting at 5 p.m. to nullify and reconsider the items.

Member Alan said, "we're volunteers, okay? We're not professionals," while backing the redo. Separately, the panel discussed replacing a donated dog waste dispenser at Town Field after photos showed uncollected waste at multiple spots.
