Pepperell Board of Health Loses Inspector to Sudbury, Contracts Out Spring Inspections

PEPPERELL — March 18, 2026 — Pepperell Board of Health loses its inspector and outsources 40 spring inspections to cover the gap. Inspector Mike Finioli gave notice at the March 18 meeting, with his last day March 19, after accepting the assistant director position in Sudbury; he had been with the division roughly three and a half years. Public Health Director announced the division is contracting all camp inspections and approximately 20 additional food inspections to Maureen Lee of Great Meadows Public Health, totaling about 40 inspections through roughly the end of June, while redirecting newer inspector Andrea — who just passed her food safety manager certification — to septic system work. The board also heard that the division issued a 9,990-gallon-per-day septic permit at the Forest Ridge Road Powder Club, described as the largest on-site wastewater permit the division will ever issue, a prerequisite step before housing construction can begin at the former Camp Thoreau site. Fines are set to begin accruing April 1 at 141 Katandin Heights, where no remediation has occurred since an enforcement order was issued more than a month ago.
