Pepperell Conservation Commission Approves Sewer Connection Through Wetland Buffer Zone

PEPPERELL — September 12, 2023 — Pepperell Conservation Commission unanimously approves sewer connection through wetland buffer for Park Street two-family dwelling. The commission voted Tuesday to issue an order of conditions allowing applicant Jeff Chabot to run two sewer laterals from a proposed two-unit dwelling at the corner of Park Street and Brookline Street to existing municipal sewer stubs, with the route crossing the 100-foot wetland buffer and approaching the 50-foot buffer line. Engineer Jack Visniewski of J. Visniewski LLC presented the plan, which was amended during the hearing to include additional granite wetland-boundary markers along the lot line and an extended erosion-control limit of work running along the 100-foot buffer zone. Members also required that trench spoils be stacked on the house side of the excavation, away from the wetland. Two other public hearings — for 40 Park Street and 23 Mill Street — were continued to October 3, and a certificate of compliance for 11 Saratell Street was deferred because recent heavy rains left the site unstabilized.
