Pepperell Finance Committee endorses six Town Meeting warrant articles

Finance Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Pepperell Finance Committee clears six warrant articles for Annual Town Meeting. Meeting with just three voting members, the committee unanimously recommended a $192,112 lease purchase for a highway department dump truck, a $356,226.55 free cash appropriation to cover a snow and ice deficit, a $700,000 transfer within the Water Enterprise Fund, and a new tax title payment plan bylaw. Members also backed a $100,000 Information Technology Capital appropriation after the town was targeted in an attempted computer network breach, with IT staffer Martin Kadek compiling a list of needed security equipment.

One member, describing himself as "an old IT guy," called the sum "a good start, given the technological challenges." Marcella Nunez asked pointedly, "It's $100,000?" before the vote passed unanimously. The committee postponed approving prior meeting minutes and adjourned at 7:19 p.m.
