Pepperell preservation panel approves $276,000, rejects two projects
Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026
Pepperell Community Preservation Committee approves $276,000 across nine projects, rejects two others. The panel backed $120,000 for affordable housing after member Al's bid to cut it to $50,000 failed 1-5, with member Carolyn countering that "affordable housing is an urgent issue in this town." Members approved $41,100 for library plaque and column restoration, $50,000 for conservation land, and smaller cemetery and schoolhouse-documentation grants, each amended to require historic-preservation-certified contractors. A $59,750 restoration of Town Hall's front doors failed 3-2, with members citing more urgent roof and cupola needs.
An Eagle Scout-led $12,500 volleyball court application, reworked five times over funding formulas for in-kind donations, ended in a 3-3 tie and was not approved.
