Pepperell senior board drafts first-ever bylaws
Council on Aging · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Pepperell's Council on Aging begins drafting the senior center's first formal bylaws, with no vote yet. Director Bethany Lovelace presented an AI-assisted first draft built from other towns' senior center bylaws, opening debate over term limits, an annual officer election, and unexcused-absence rules the board has never had. The board also reviewed a refined logo from designer Amy King, discussed spending a $20,000 state furniture earmark on dining chairs at $121 each, and heard that a recent lunch-price increase has not hurt turnout: 659 meals served in August, up from 448 a year earlier.
"That's a sit and stay a while situation," Lovelace said of the proposed chairs. The Friends of the Pepperell Seniors reported new memorial benches are installed but not yet anchored, at a cost topping $4,000, and that longtime board member Jean Bergeron has resigned.
