Pepperell Conservation Commission accepts Hollis border parcel, approves Eagle Scout sign project

PEPPERELL — October 9, 2018 — Pepperell Conservation Commission voted Tuesday to accept a 0.38-acre parcel along the Hollis border as part of a 46.8-acre conservation donation centered in New Hampshire, among several actions at its October 9 meeting. The commission unanimously approved the land acceptance at no cost to the town, issued a certificate of compliance for 17 North Street (file 259-518) after confirming a septic-related fill area had re-vegetated, and voted to co-sponsor an Eyes on Owls program with the Pepperell Public Library. Members also unanimously endorsed three natural-habitat recommendation tables — covering forest habitats, freshwater wetland habitats, and freshwater rivers and streams — submitted by the town's Climate Change, Resiliency, and Sustainability Working Group, which is targeting an August 2019 deadline for a finished climate resiliency document to go before the Planning Board. Eagle Scout candidate Aidan Morehouse, who described a plan to install three wooden directional signs at the River Road kayak and canoe launch site for an estimated $400 or less, received commission guidance on placement within the town's easement and was told up to $400 in wetlands-fee reimbursement is available.
