Pepperell plant panel accepts minutes, closes out art show prep

Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee · Meeting of June 4, 2026

Pepperell's Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee flags a third landscape plan for the Leighton Landing 40B project as still short of native-plant rules. Committee member Deb Fountain said the revised plan submits roughly 38 percent New England native plants against the town's required 60 percent, and that the contractor never responded to prior concerns about invasive-species removal and disposal. Jenn Coviello reported the grant-funded Pepperell Community Garden pollinator garden, backed by $500 from the Pepperell Cultural Council, is about 95 percent planted with $313.75 in expenses so far, and said she "saw evidence that a painted lady had laid eggs" in the garden's pussytoes.

The committee also finalized its June 8-14 library art show, which drew 45 submitted works, and closed out its Garlic Mustard Challenge, having distributed 110 of 120 seed packages. Members unanimously accepted the May 21 minutes and set June 25 for their next meeting.
