Pepperell plant panel takes up wetlands review of 81 Main Street redevelopment. The Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee agreed to review a roughly 250-page Notice of Intent for a four-story mixed-use building proposed next to Quality Market, checking whether its invasive-species plan is complete and whether landscaping meets the town's 60 percent native-plant standard. Conservation Commission member Pat Rice requested the referral after finding the submitted plan lacking, the committee's chair said, adding comments are due before a Conservation Commission meeting expected in mid-September.
"I think Pat Rice was the one that asked that we look at it because she wasn't entirely satisfied," the chair said. Members also finalized October 3 Fall Festival logistics, including a 10-by-20 tent and a possible native-plant-bouquet raffle, and are supplying seeds and plants for an August 30 indigenous-restoration event at the Reed Homestead with a new nonprofit, Inland. Both procedural votes, approving minutes and adjourning, passed unanimously.
