Pepperell Plant Committee Approves Art Show Return, Targets Broader Nature Theme

Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee · Meeting of June 25, 2026

Pepperell's Invasive and Native Plant Advisory Committee voted to pursue a second annual nature art show at the public library after this year's event drew 45 submissions and a well-attended reception. The committee agreed to ask library contact Tina to hold a date for next year, with members settling on a broader nature theme to replace the more specific framing that left some submitted pieces only loosely connected to the subject. Separately, the chair reported crabgrass has overtaken large portions of the community pollinator garden and asked each member to commit to one hour of volunteer weeding per week, while also proposing oak leaves from her own woodland as chemical-free mulch.

The committee also learned that town GIS coordinator Cora will conduct a drone mapping session in July to assess the results of phragmites treatment at a local wetland site, with preliminary observations suggesting significant portions of the invasive stand are not regrowing. Two 40B housing hearings before the Zoning Board of Appeals are coming up: Latent Landing on July 29 and Woodland Ridge on July 15.
