Pepperell Recreation Commission canceled its field-use meeting with softball and soccer league presidents. A commission member said the session, planned as a recorded discussion with Alan Leao observing, was scrapped after complaints about its planning and execution. The member said "too many cooks" had been involved in earlier meetings and that "we do not have enough fields." The commission will hear public concerns at the start of its Oct. 7 meeting, then consider a softball request for exclusive use of Barnum Fields for spring and summer.
